If you've been to an industry award show the chances are you'll have either seen or heard James Cannon! He regularly hosts awards and provides the "Voice of God" at numerous presentations. Successful outdoor events include fronting Nike's Run London which involved starting the race with Paula Radcliffe and pre-race interviews with Lord Coe. James has hosted numerous store openings for HMV across the UK and was on stage at every Party in the Park introducing acts to the 100,000 strong audience in London's Hyde Park. He also facilitates in house meetings and presentations, taking the role of devil's advocate or in house neutral for corporate clients such as British Airways. James also hosts events for various charities. His first taste of fundraising success began whilst hosting the Breakfast Show on GWR FM in Bristol. A spoof version of The Beautiful South's Rotterdam was remade as The Beautiful South West and Totterdown, a suburb of the city. The single made the radio station's charity £10,000! In early January 2005 it was James Cannon who suggested to management at Capital Radio that all radio stations across the UK should come together and raise money for the victims of the Asian Tsunami. His idea rapidly came to fruition and the result was Radio Aid. The idea that many had said was impossible actually happened within two weeks. Commercial radio put aside all differences and came together for just one day, with the same show being broadcast across all formats and frequencies. The day raised over £3m. James was introduced to the Prime Minister Tony Blair, and enjoyed a private tea with Prince Andrew at Buckingham Palace as a result. Whilst at Capital Radio, James was a regular supporter of Help a London Child. He has hosted many live events and visited numerous projects which benefit from the funds raised by the Charity. James has supported the Anthony Nolan Trust. The trust aims to "Take back lives from leukaemia" by linking bone marrow donors. He has hosted Sports dinners for England Cricket Legend Mark Ramprakash and Testimonial Dinners for England Rugby players Mike Catt, Richard Hill and Matt Perry. |
